06/01/1998Nestled among the hills of Ohio’s Amish countryside is Der Marktplatz, the home of Breitenbach Wine Cellars. Started in 1980 by Duke and Cynthia Bixler, the winery offers vinifera and hybrid varieties, as well as fruit and berry wines. The winery has changed dramatically over the years and is currently the second largest winery in the state in terms of wine production. Today, the location boasts a cafe, cheese shop, spacious indoor venue for special events, and a small vineyard on 167 acres.
