In this presentation we share some of the complex ethical concerns that can occur in library and museum archives when managing sensitive content in digital collections, particularly when access and privacy conflict. We will also share our research on managing tribal content and how to determine what is sacred digital content and how best to approach these artifacts. Our goal is to bring awareness to the numerous inconspicuous areas of potential sensitivity lurking in digital archives and to provide guidelines for identifying and resolving ethical issues so that community partnerships can thrive.
